Over 400 Palestinians were injured on Tuesday during clashes in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, the Red Crescent said, with at least 31 shot with live fire.

In the West Bank, clashes continued for the 12th consecutive day as Israeli forces suppressed popular demonstrations in Hebron, Nablus, Bethlehem and other districts.

Thirteen Palestinians were shot and injured with live fire, 84 with rubber-coated bullets, and 229 were injured by tear gas, a Red Crescent spokesperson told Ma’an.

At least four Palestinians were shot with live fire during clashes at the Beit Furik and Huwwara checkpoints in Nablus and taken to hospital for treatment, medics said.

In Hebron, hundreds of university students marched towards a military checkpoint in the north of the city, with Israeli forces opening fire on the demonstrators.

Five people were injured with live rounds and taken to hospital in northern Hebron, while a young man and child were shot at the entrance to the al-Fawwar refugee camp.

At least 16 were injured by rubber-coated bullets in the Hebron district.

In Bethlehem, Mutaz Ibrahim Zawahreh, 27, was hit with a live bullet in the chest and was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where he later died, medical sources at the Beit Jala Governmental Hospital told Ma’an.

Dozens more were injured by rubber-coated bullets and tear gas.

Meanwhile, the Red Crescent said at least 18 Palestinians were shot with live fire in Gaza while a further 43 were shot with rubber-coated bullets.

Dozens of Palestinian youths took part in a demonstration in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza to rally against ongoing Israeli violations in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank, while demonstrators also rallied east of the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that “hundreds of rioters gathered near the border fence hurling rocks and rolling burning tires,” with Israeli forces responding with riot-dispersal means.

Later in the day, hundreds of Palestinians attempted to breach the “security fence” and Israeli forces fired gun shots in the air, a spokesperson added.

The latest injuries in Tuesday clashes bring the total number of Palestinians injured since Oct. 1 to 3,730 in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Three-hundred and sixty have been shot with live fire, 932 with rubber-coated steel bullets, and 2,365 have been injured by tear gas, the Red Crescent said.

At least three Palestinians have been run over by Israeli military vehicles, while 68 have been assaulted by military forces.

The death of Mutaz Ibrahim Zawahreh, 27, brings the total number of Palestinians killed in October to 30, 17 of whom were killed during clashes.

The ongoing clashes were prompted by Israeli army and settler reprisals after four Israelis were killed in two separate attacks at the beginning of October, although tensions had been mounting for weeks over entry restrictions for Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem.
