Israeli activists have published a video on the Internet showing a Palestinian woman from Israel encircled by Israeli police inside an Israeli court chanting “Daesh is continuous and expanding” Arabi21 reported on Sunday.
Israeli media reported that the 44-year-old Iman Kingo appeared in Haifa Central Court after planning to join Daesh. Kingo, a mother of five, is currently completing a PhD in Sharia studies.
According to a Palestinian website, the Israeli court accused Kingo of “attempting to illegally move to an Arab country and contacting a foreign collaborator.”
In a statement, the Israeli police said: “Kingo was arrested while trying to cross the Turkish border to Syria by Turkish border guards, who found $11,000 on her. She was handed over [to Israeli security] at Ben Gurion Airport.”
The statement said that Kingo left with her father to Turkey on 19 August and her father returned alone on 26 August. The police said that Israeli intelligence found that Iman had contacted Daesh and proposed to teach Sharia lessons to its affiliates.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported representatives of the Israeli police as saying that: “We received information about the leave of the suspect and her plan to join Daesh.” Kingo, the police said, denied that her father knew about her plans.
Arab48.com reported Kingo’s lawyer as saying: “Kingo descends from a respected family and a mother of three university students. She had no intention to join Daesh or any other organisation. I deny completely the charges of contacted a foreign collaborator.”
The Israeli occupation imposed a three-week media gag order on Kingo’s case.
