Four Israeli soldiers were injured in a suspected car ramming attack near the illegal Israeli settlement of Beit Aryeh-Ofarim in the central occupied West Bank’s Salfit district, the Israeli army and medics said Thursday.
An Israeli army spokesperson said Israeli forces were searching the area for a vehicle that fled the scene.
Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical service, said medics were treating four victims, one of whom was severely injured and another three mildly.
On Wednesday, a Palestinian was shot dead after carrying out a stabbing in the southern West Bank’s Hebron city, during which two Israelis were injured.
According to Magen David Adom, one of the stabbing victims sustained moderate wounds, while the other was left with “mild” injuries.
Later that evening, a former member of a Jewish terror group and his wife were shot and injured in a drive-by shooting near Tulkarem in the northern occupied West Bank.
Shaul Nir, a former member of the Jewish Underground, a group which carried out a string of terror attacks in the 1980s, was seriously to moderately wounded in the shooting near Tulkarem, and his wife, Rachel Nir was lightly wounded.
Shaul, along with three other members of the group, was sentenced to life after being convicted of a 1983 shooting attack on the Islamic College of Hebron, which killed three students and wounded 33. His sentence was later reduced, and Shaul was released.
The Palestinian who carried out the shooting fled the scene, and Israeli forces immediately began a search operation.
On Thursday, Israeli forces maintained a complete closure of Tulkarem in the search for a gunman.
According to documentation by the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), an average of five Israelis per week have been injured in Palestinian attacks in the occupied Palestinian territory in 2015.
Since the start of October, at least 115 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and civilians and at least 19 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks.
Over 11,000 Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces during the same time period, the majority during clashes.
