Ali Abunimah & Ramzy Baroud Coming to Melbourne: AFP Symposium 2016

SAVE THE DATE: AFP ONE-DAY MEDIA SYMPOSIUM

Thursday 31 March 2016

Australians for Palestine is sponsoring a one-day symposium in Melbourne on Thursday 31 March 2016 with a focus on journalism, citizen journalism and the new media and its influence on public perceptions of the Israel/Palestine conflict. In particular, it will look at how the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign is gaining significant traction with the general public on social media to act against Israel’s apartheid policies and practices, as well as the challenges it faces from Israel’s hasbara through the same medium.

To that end, this symposium brings together two of the most prominent and influential Palestinian voices in journalism who have successfully used communications technologies to impact the public debate on the question of Palestine – Ali Abunimah, co-founder of Electronic Intifada and Ramzy Baroud, founder of The Palestine Chronicle.

We hope that you will consider joining us in what promises to be an enlightening and encouraging forum of like-minded people who are actively seeking to change the dynamics of the long-suffering Palestinian narrative through new media.
