The Palestinian Central Elections Commission said Hamas’s criticism of electoral records are not true. Hamas has claimed that 25,000 names are repeated in the electoral records; an accusation which the CEC refused.

Jameel Al-Khalidi, the Regional Director of the Central Elections Commission said Hamas has compared the list “Before and after the update and the increase was clear,” but he stated that was to be expected.

Al-Khalidi stated that the Palestinian Council of Ministers announced elections will take place on October 8 in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Hamas further affirmed its commitment to making the local elections successful.
