In video footage made available on social media, Muhammad and Mahmoud Balboul were shown the moment they were united with their family.

The brothers were released from an Israeli prison on December 8, 2016.

The Balboul brothers had gone on a hunger strike in protest of their administrative detention.

Many Palestinians are still held without trial or formal charges, while nearly 7,000 Palestinian prisoners are languishing in Israeli jails.

The release of the brother was a cause for celebration throughout the occupied territories.
