Palestinian journalist, Ayman Khaled, has revealed in an article that the Greek authorities have finally released Palestinian-Syrian journalist Amal Faour, 26, from detention after she published articles about the plight of Syrian refugees in Greece.

Khaled claimed that Syrian refugees are “exposed to crimes in Greece that are not less than crimes committed against them in Syria.”

Faour was given a membership card from the Union of Palestinian-Syrian Writers at the age of 14, even before she studied journalism, and years before she had to leave Syria after he house collapsed in Yarmouk refugee camp.

She then left for Turkey where she lived for two years. She decided to leave for Greece to document the plight of refugees arriving there to escape the civil war in Syria.

According to her, “Refugees are discriminated against and the process of settling them down is very slow. They are being described using the worst terms.”

She added that there is a lack of medical care provided for refugees, “especially refugees with chronic diseases, and children, who don’t have access to proper medication and who face a shortage of milk, so their families reduce the portion of milk provided to them.”

Faour left, according to Ayman Khaled, with her daughter to a European country. She wrote to Khaled saying, “I am very exhausted and sick, but will continue reporting the plight of refugees in Greece.”

Khaled concluded by saying, “This young journalist Amal, 26, was covered by the rubble in Yarmouk. She wants to deliver the plight of refugees to the whole world. She has something to say. Please help her deliver her message.”
