The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said Israeli Defense Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, will not be able to create a new equation in Gaza.

Senior spokesperson for the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Sami Abuzouhri, said in a statement, “Lieberman will not succeed at creating new equation with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.”

Hamas held Israel responsible of the consequences resulting from launching dozens of air strikes against the Gaza Strip last night.

Abozouhri added, “The Israeli air strikes on Gaza are a continuation of aggression against our people and it reveals Israeli interest to create a new equation.”

Some 50 Israeli missiles were fired at Gaza during Sunday night after a home-made Palestinian rocket landed in southern Israel. No Palestinian faction has claimed responsibility for the rocket being fired.

Israeli missiles targeted sites and areas in northern Gaza resulting in the injury of five Palestinians.

The Israeli assault on Gaza is the most intense since the end of the 2014 Gaza offensive which claimed the lives of 2,200 Palestinians, nearly half of whom were women and children.
