Deputy head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, stressed that his movement will not allow for changes on the ground in response to the Israeli escalation on the Gaza Strip’s eastern border.

During his Friday sermon in central Gaza, Haniyeh said: “the occupation must understand that we will not allow for a buffer zone inside Gaza and that the resistance will not allow intrusions inside the borders of Gaza and the imposition of new facts.”

“Our borders are witnessing clashes with the occupation because they intruded 100-150 meters into Gaza under the pretext of searching for tunnels,” he added.

Haniyeh also pointed out that his movement sent a number of messages through mediators that the resistance will not allow the imposition of a new equation inside the borders of Gaza, nor will it allow the establishment of a buffer zone. He noted that this was agreed upon in the ceasefire signed in Cairo after the 2014 war.
