A recent poll published by the Brookings Institute has revealed that 46% of Americans support sanctions against Israel with a total increase of 9% compared to last year.

The poll, published on December 2, 2016, revealed that nearly half Americans support sanctions against Israel because of its settlement activities in the West Bank.

The poll was published at a time of holding the annual Saban Policy Forum, which aims at promoting dialogue between high-ranking American and Israeli policy-makers.

Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shukri took part in the Forum. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has taken part in the Forum on Sunday as well.

The poll revealed that 46% of Americans support imposing sanctions against Israel because of settlement construction in the West Bank and Jerusalem with an increase of 9% compared to a poll conducted last year.

The poll sample included 2750 Americans. The poll took place before and after the American elections between November 5-14, 2016 and November 18-23, 2016. The error margin of the poll is 2.5 to 3.04%.

American president-elect Donald Trump has pledged to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

  1. Am I missing something? 46% support sanctions against Israel, yet only 34% support voting in favor of establishing the Palestinian state.
