Israeli Extremists Vandalize Christian Cemetery in Jerusalem

Suspected Israeli extremists vandalized a Christian cemetery in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan early Tuesday, a local group said.

Father Firas Hijazeen said extremists destroyed a tombstone and sprayed racist slogans on the outer walls of the Latin Monastery in Silwan.

He strongly condemned the attack.

The Wadi Hilweh information center said that extremists also punctured the tires of six cars and sprayed racist graffiti and “price-tag” on the walls.

Local resident Amjad Kasham told Ma’an that dozens of Israeli extremists raided Silwan at around 3 a.m. and vandalized the cars.

The vehicles belonged to the Zanada, Elwat, and Hlaesi families.

The extremists were reportedly participating in a religious festival near Silwan at the time of the attack.

On Sunday, Israeli extremists vandalized 15 Christian tombstones in a cemetery in Jerusalem.

In late September, Israeli extremists punctured the tires of six Palestinian vehicles in the East Jerusalem of Sheikh Jarrah.

“Price Tag” attacks have targeted mosques, Palestinian homes and Israeli military installations in the occupied West Bank, but are generally less common within Israel.
