Israeli forces have assaulted five Palestinian sportsmen, one in critical condition, in Jerusalem after they left a local playground in Bab Hitta neighborhood in Jerusalem, next to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Witnesses said the Israeli forces used the back of the guns while assaulting the sportsmen after they finished training at the playground. Three of the victims were transferred to hospital for treatment while one of them vomited blood.

A resident in Bab Hitta area said the Israeli occupation forces have been launching a fierce campaign against the neighborhood claiming that Palestinians throw stones at Israeli soldiers in the area.

He also said that soldiers storm houses and shops in the area, and search items, destroy belongings, and leave a huge amount of destruction after these raids.

He added, “Israeli soldiers forced the owners of shops in the area to shut down their shops and impose fines on them as a form of collective punishment against the neighborhood due to stone throwing.”
