Israeli Soldiers Kill Gazan Teenager

A Palestinian teenager has succumbed to death because of grave injuries he suffered after Israeli soldiers opened fire at him in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian medical sources identified the 13-year-old teenager as Ghazi Maher al-Zaanen. He had been shot in the head by Israeli troops stationed east of Beit Hanoun on Friday.

He was moved to the al-Shifa hospital where he had an operation. The Palestinian boy remained in a critical condition for several hours before he was pronounced dead.

Israeli troops have on several occasions raided the Gaza Strip since Tel Aviv put a halt to its 22-day onslaught in the blockaded coastal sliver.

Three weeks of Israeli air strikes and a ground incursion resulted in the death of over 1,500 Palestinians and the injury of about 5,450 people in the Gaza Strip. Most of the victims were civilians. The carnage also inflicted more than USD 1.6 billion of damage on Gaza’s economy.
