Israeli Troops Kill Two Palestinians in West Bank

The Palestinian medics and security officials said on Monday that 23-year-old Mortesen Adwan and Ali Halifa, 22, were killed overnight, AFP reported.

The shooting took place after Palestinians apparently threw stones at Israeli troops that were making arrests in the camp on the road from Ramallah to East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The victims were taken to the Ramallah hospital at dawn. One of them was shot in the head and was martyred immediately. The second, who was shot in the abdomen, was martyred shortly afterwards, Palestinian sources said.

On Friday, Israeli soldiers injured fifteen Palestinians in an attempt to disperse peaceful protesters demanding the reopening of the main entrance of Kafr Qaddum village in northern West Bank.

Claiming the entire al-Quds as its "eternal and indivisible" capital, Israel annexed the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds in 1967. However, the annexation has never been recognized by the international community.

Israel also launched an all-out military offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip three days before the turn of 2009. The ensuing three-week war killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, including many women and children.
