The Palestinian Media Club yesterday called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to protect journalists from the Israeli occupation instead of harassing them and putting restrictions on their work, the Safa news agency reported.

The Media Club condemned the PA’s actions against journalists in the occupied West Bank who are often subjected to arrest campaigns against them.

“Arresting journalists and harassing them because of their work is a violation of all conventions and laws related to freedom of media work,” MEMO reported.

MEMO added, “The Palestinian journalists do not commit crimes, but they expose Israeli violations professionally and responsibly. Therefore, they need someone to stand beside them, not to arrest them.”
