Ministry of Interior: 24,138 Babies Born in Gaza during the Last 6 Months

The Palestinian Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip said 24,138 babies have been born in the Gaza Strip during the last six months, with an average of 132 new babies born per day.

The Ministry said its various offices across the Gaza Strip have registered 1738 deaths during the same period, with an average of nine death per day.

The Directorate of Gaza City at the Ministry has registered 8,299 new babies during the first six months of the year, and the Directorate of Khan Younis has registered 6,155 new babies. The Directorate of Northern Gaza has registered 3,280 babies; the Directorate of the Middle Area of the Gaza Strip has registered 3,414 while the Directorate of Rafah has registered 2990 babies.

Statistics published by the Ministry has shown that 35% of newborns were born in Gaza city, while 26% in Khan Younis, 14% of in the Middle Area, 13% in Northern Gaza and 12% in Rafah.

The total number of reported deaths in the Gaza Strip were 1,738 cases during the first half of the year.

The Ministry noted that the population of Gaza has reached 1,981,287 as of June 2016.
