The wife of Palestinian journalist, Omar Nazzal, declared his plans to go on a hunger strike in Israeli jails tomorrow in protest of his administrative detention without charge or trial and to support Palestinian hunger striker, Bilal Kayed, who has been on a hunger strike for 50 days.

Omar Nazzal was arrested at the Allenby Bridge while leaving to Jordan in April 2016, under Israel’s administrative detention policy.

Nazzal’s wife said the Israeli Prison Service threatened to move him to solitary confinement at Ofir prison if he insisted on his strike.

Nazzal is the not the first Palestinian journalist to be held without charge or trial. Mohammed Alqeeq was also arrested and placed him under administrative detention order Israel and only released after he staged a 94-day hunger strike.
