Qatar Emir to Pay Salaries of Former Gaza Government Staff

Qatar is to pay the July salaries of the employees of the former government of Gaza, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani “has directed that the salaries for Gaza Strip employees for the current month of Shawwal be paid, a total of QR 113 million [$31 million],” the news site said.

Al-Thani stated he “is keen on alleviating the suffering of brethren in the Strip and the severe financial distress they are facing due to the unjust siege imposed on them by the Israeli occupation.”

In a statement, the Undersecretary of Gaza’s Ministry of Finance, Yusef Kaylani said: “Thank you to everyone who has stood by our people and their just cause.”
