9Millions of people are marking Refugee Week which starts today, June 20, in the hope of highlighting the bleak reality of life as a refugee.

The forced mass expulsion and displacement of the Palestinian people, resulting from the 1948 War, continues to be one of the main focal points of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Due to the violent uprooting of Palestinians from their homeland, 66% of the population are now refugees worldwide, a percentage which continues to evolve under the Israeli occupation.

Israel has neglected to address its responsibility in the creation of the Palestinian refugee crisis, and has failed to abide by UN General Assembly Resolution 194 of 1948 and UN Security Council Decision 237 of 1967 by denying the

Despite the urgency of the situation, it rarely receives the appropriate response from the international community. Israel’s oppressive and disenfranchising policies have resulted in the continual suffering of more than 7.8 million Palestinians worldwide, the largest refugee population in the world.
