The killing of Mo’men Abu Al-Awf raises to 227 the number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
Three Palestinian paramedics and a journalist were killed by an Israeli tank shell while attempting to evacuate injured civilians in Gaza City, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
A ministry statement said an Israeli tank directly fired at the paramedics as they were evacuating civilians injured in an Israeli strike on a house in Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City on Monday night, according to the Anadolu news agency.

‘Systematic Targeting’
Mo’men Abu Al-Awf, a freelance photojournalist, who accompanied the paramedics, was killed in the attack as well, raising the death toll of journalists killed since October 2023 to 227, Gaza’s Government Media Office said in a statement on Tuesday, cited by Anadolu.

The office strongly condemned “the systematic targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation.”
It urged the international community and relevant media and press organizations around the world to condemn the Israeli “crimes” and hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations.
‘Heroes’
Al Jazeera Arabic journalist Anas al-Sharif posted a video on X saying “Here I am carrying the body of my brother and fellow journalist, Mo’men Abu Al-Awf, who accompanied the medical services crews.”
He added that “Those heroes never stopped performing their humanitarian duty despite the targeting and siege, in their attempts to rescue life from the jaws of missiles and the rubble of Israeli bombing.”

According to the Gaza authorities, at least 1,580 medical staffers, including doctors and first responders, have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 2023.
Staggering Death Toll
Since Israel’s reneging on the ceasefire on March 18, it has killed and wounded thousands of Palestinians throughout the Gaza Strip through a bloody and ongoing aerial bombardment.
On October 7, 2023, following a Palestinian Resistance operation in southern Israel, the Israeli military launched a genocidal war against the Palestinians, killing over 54,800, wounding more than 126,000, with over 14,000 still missing.

Despite habitual condemnation by many countries around the world of the Israeli genocide, little has been done to hold Israel accountable.
Israel is currently under investigation for the crime of genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals — including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — are now officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.
The Israeli genocide has been largely defended, supported, and financed by Washington and a few other Western powers.
