Settler violence against Palestinians and their properties has dramatically increased since the onset of Israel’s military aggression in Gaza in October 2023.

Illegal Israeli Jewish settlers began paving roads in the town of Deir Dibwan, east of Ramallah, while Israeli forces stormed a town south of Salfit in the occupied West Bank to protect settlers who broke into religious shrines on Tuesday, according to Palestinian media.

Deir Dibwan and neighboring towns have been subjected to repeated raids by settlers, under the protection of occupation forces, which includes the firing of live ammunition and attacks on Palestinian property, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

Also on Tuesday, settlers attacked a Palestinian home in the town of Turmus Ayya, north of Ramallah, injuring two Palestinians, the agency reported.

A resident told WAFA that settlers from the Shiloh colony, built on the town’s lands, attacked his home with stones after midnight and assaulted his son and brother, injuring them. He said the settlers also smashed the windows of his home.

Culture Minister Detained

Israeli occupation forces on Monday detained Culture Minister Imad Hamdan and his delegation in Kafr Ni’ma village, west of Ramallah, WAFA reported. They were detained during a visit to a youth project in the village, and followed an assault by settlers against the minister’s staff.

Settlers beat some of the staff, blocked access to the project, and seized their IDs and mobile phones, the report stated. The settlers also briefly held Bader Zamareh, Executive Director of Sharek Youth Forum, along with a group of youths at the scene.

On Monday evening, several Palestinians were injured in a settler attack on the village of Susiya in Masafer Yatta, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, WAFA reported.

Jihad Al-Nawaj’a, head of the Susiya Village Council, told WAFA that Israeli settlers attacked the homes of the Shreiteh family, pelting them with stones. Nasser Shreiteh’s wife and children were injured in the attack. The settlers, who came from a nearby colony, also vandalized Shreiteh’s vehicle, smashing its windows.

Settlers Break into Shrines

On Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces stormed the town of Kifl Haris, north of Salfit, to protect settlers who raided religious shrines, according to local sources, cited by WAFA.

The report stated that Israeli forces raided the town and forced the closure of shops to secure the entry of settlers who broke into the religious shrines to perform Talmudic rituals.
