Lauryn Hill, Danny Glover Feature in Video by Black and Palestinian Artists, Activists

Lauryn Hill, Danny Glover, Cornel West, Angela Davis, and Alice Walker, are among more than 60 leading Black and Palestinian artists and activists to feature in a new video.

The video, which also includes contributions by Palestinian hip-hop group DAM and Boycott National Committee (BNC) member Omar Barghouti, is intended to highlight “challenges that both communities are confronting, including militarized policing and the prison industry.”

According to material provided by organisers, the short video is “intended for social media circulation and features Black and Palestinian notables expressing cross-movement solidarity.”

“This video continues to build on the momentum of organic solidarity between Black and Palestinian communities in a struggle against structural racism, and, more broadly, against literal and figurative modes of dehumanization”, the statement added.

The video is a joint project of the Dream Defenders, Black Youth Project, the DC Palestinian Film and Arts Festival, the Institute for Middle East Understanding, Jewish Voice for Peace, and the Arab Studies Institute.
