Israeli soldiers stormed the village of Khashim Zina in the Negev and destroyed a house belonging to Attia Alathameen whose wife then attempted to set herself alight.

Althameem attempted to take her life following the destruction of her family’s house that sheltered her 12-member family. The tin-house was built in 1994 and has sheltered the family since then.

Israel does not recognize the 25-km village in the Negev and refuses to provide any service to its 2,400 residents, repeatedly destroying their houses and villages.

The village does not have any water or electricity services, yet Palestinians refuse to leave their lands, as they have been living on for generations.

The village whose name means “The Edge of the Shrine”, is an area where women sought the blessings of a religious man, after they gave birth.
