The Malaysian ambassador to Egypt and Palestine Dato Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari will visit the Gaza Strip today.

Mohammed Hasna, the Head of the Office of Coordinating Humanitarian Affairs at the Islamic Organisation Cooperation in the Gaza Strip said a Malaysian delegation headed by Ku is expected to arrive in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border today.

According to Hasna, the delegation will oversee Malaysian projects implemented in the Gaza Strip in addition to meeting families and displaced Palestinians, as well as visiting academic institutions in the coastal enclave.

Malaysian has a long-standing policy of supporting the Palestinian cause. The country initiated this policy with the arrival of the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahatir Mohammed, to power. A number of Malaysian NGOs are working in the occupied Palestinian Territories, especially in Gaza.
