Israeli airstrikes killed two people in southern Lebanon, targeting a truck and a car, as ceasefire violations continue more than a year after the truce took effect.

Two Lebanese civilians were killed on Friday in Israeli airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, marking further violations of the ceasefire agreement in place since November 2024.

The ministry said an Israeli strike earlier in the day targeted a small truck in the town of Mansouri, in the Tyre district, killing one person.

A separate overnight Israeli strike targeted a car in the town of Mayfadoun, in the Nabatieh district, killing another individual.

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that an ambulance operated by the Islamic Risala Scout Association transported a wounded person to hospital following the strike in Mansouri.

In a separate incident, the agency said an Israeli drone was seen flying at very low altitude over Beirut and its southern suburbs, raising concerns about continued aerial surveillance and escalation.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect in November 2024, following more than a year of cross-border hostilities linked to Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The fighting killed more than 4,000 people in Lebanon and injured around 17,000 others.

Under the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces were required to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 2025. However, Israel has only partially withdrawn and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts, alongside repeated airstrikes and drone activity inside Lebanese territory.

Lebanese officials and media have repeatedly warned that ongoing Israeli attacks risk further destabilization and undermine the ceasefire framework.
