Key Developments

  • Attack targeted Israeli forces repairing disabled tank near Lebanese border.

  • Israeli officials warn continued attacks threaten ceasefire with Hezbollah.

Israeli Media Details Taybeh Operation

Israeli Channel 13 revealed on Monday new details about the incident in which soldier Eidan Fuchs was killed during a military operation in southern Lebanon on Sunday.

According to Al Mayadeen, the incident began when a tank belonging to the Golani Brigade broke down inside the border town of Taybeh, approximately four kilometers north of the Metulla settlement.

As Israeli occupation forces from the Armored Corps and Golani Brigade attempted to repair and evacuate the vehicle, a booby-trapped drone targeted the position, killing one soldier and wounding six others, four of them seriously.

The Channel 13 military correspondent described the event as “extremely serious,” warning it could have escalated into a “far greater disaster.”

Drones Target Evacuation Efforts

According to Al Mayadeen, the wounded soldiers were evacuated by military helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where several underwent surgery.

During the evacuation, a second explosive drone targeted an Israeli Air Force Black Hawk helicopter as it attempted to land inside Lebanese territory, detonating just meters away.

A third drone was also detected during the operation and subsequently shot down.

The soldier killed in the attack is the 941st Israeli military fatality since October 7, 2023, according to official figures acknowledged by the Israeli army.

Israeli military officials warned that the continuation of such attacks could place the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah at risk.

According to Al Mayadeen, the Taybeh operation is part of a broader pattern of sustained confrontations along the southern Lebanese front, where Hezbollah has continued operations in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire.

Northern Front Under Strain

Israeli Ministry of Health data cited by Al Mayadeen indicates that at least 30 injuries were recorded on the northern front within a 24-hour period, bringing the total number of wounded since the ceasefire into the hundreds.

The mounting pressure has also impacted life in northern occupied territories, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly canceling large-scale events near the border due to ongoing security concerns.

Hezbollah has maintained that its operations are a direct response to continued Israeli strikes on Lebanese towns and civilian areas.
