IRGC Confirms Death of Naval Commander

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday the martyrdom of its Navy Chief, Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who died of wounds sustained during the US-Israeli aggression on Iran.

According to the IRGC, Tangsiri was overseeing efforts to reorganize forces and reinforce defensive positions across Iranian islands and coastal areas when he was critically injured in an enemy strike.

The statement said his killing came “after the strong blows he inflicted on enemy facilities and infrastructure and the downing of an American fighter jet,” linking his death directly to ongoing Iranian military operations.

The IRGC emphasized that its forces are “accustomed to offering martyrs,” stressing that its military path will continue “with strength and steadfastness despite the challenges.”

IRGC Warns of ‘Surprises’

The IRGC reaffirmed that its naval forces will continue operating in line with Tangsiri’s strategy, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the next phase as one that will bring “surprises” in terms of military operations and achievements.

It pledged to continue “the path of the martyrs until victory is achieved,” warning that future actions will further target US and Israeli interests.

Tangsiri, who had served as commander of the IRGC Navy since 2018, was a central figure in shaping Iran’s naval doctrine, particularly its reliance on asymmetric warfare in the Gulf, including fast attack boats, drones, sea mines, and coastal missile systems.

He had previously warned that attacks on Iranian infrastructure would trigger severe consequences, stating: “We have prepared graves across all Iranian islands for the aggressors.”

He also cautioned that any escalation targeting key sites such as Kharg Island could disrupt global energy flows and drive oil prices higher.

The IRGC indicated that its naval forces will continue to “manage the field scene firmly” in the Gulf, underscoring that Tangsiri’s approach remains central to Iran’s military posture as tensions escalate across the region.
