Iran has responded to a US proposal to end the war, outlining conditions that include halting attacks, reparations, and regional ceasefire guarantees.

Key Developments

  • Iran submits response to US 15-point proposal through intermediaries.
  • Tehran sets conditions, including an end to attacks, reparations, and regional ceasefire.
  • US insists talks are ongoing, warns of further escalation if no agreement.

Iran Responds through Intermediaries

Iran has formally replied to a 15-point proposal presented by the United States, according to a source cited by Tasnim News Agency.

The response was reportedly sent on Wednesday night through intermediaries, with Tehran now awaiting a reply.

According to the source, Iran’s position emphasizes that any agreement must begin with the immediate end of assassinations and military attacks, alongside the establishment of concrete guarantees to prevent the recurrence of war.

The response also calls for clearly defined compensation and war reparations, as well as the implementation of a comprehensive end to the war across all fronts, including groups aligned with Iran throughout the region.

Hormuz and Sovereignty Central to Conditions

The source stressed that Iran considers its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz a “natural and legal right” that must be recognized as part of any agreement.

Tehran views control over the strategic waterway not only as a sovereign issue but also as a mechanism to ensure compliance with any future commitments by the opposing side.

These conditions, the source noted, are separate from demands previously raised during nuclear negotiations in Geneva held shortly before the launch of the US-Israeli war.

‘Third Deception’

Iranian officials have expressed deep skepticism regarding US intentions, describing Washington’s push for negotiations as a form of deception.

According to the Tasnim source, Tehran views the US approach as a “third deception” strategy aimed at presenting a diplomatic image while pursuing parallel objectives.

These include influencing global oil prices, shaping international perception, and buying time for potential further military action, including what the source described as preparations for a ground operation in southern Iran.

The source added that Iran’s doubts about the US commitment to negotiations have intensified following previous experiences, particularly during earlier phases of conflict when talks coincided with military escalation.

US Proposal Faces Resistance

Details of the US proposal, reported by the American news outlet Axios, indicate that it includes several elements Iran has historically opposed.

While the full contents of the 15-point plan have not been officially disclosed, Iranian and pro-Iran media outlets have described the terms as “excessive,” with Tehran signaling that any end to the war would occur only on its own terms and timeline.

According to Press TV, Iran’s position includes five central conditions: a full halt to US and Israeli attacks and assassinations, guarantees against renewed conflict, compensation for war damages, cessation of attacks on allied groups in Lebanon and Iraq, and international recognition of Iran’s authority over the Strait of Hormuz.

The White House has maintained that negotiations remain ongoing. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said discussions were still “productive” and cautioned against treating unofficial reports as final.

She stated that the United States was “close to achieving its core objectives” and suggested that Iran may be seeking an exit from the conflict.

At the same time, Leavitt warned that failure to reach an agreement could lead to further escalation, stating that President Donald Trump is prepared to intensify military action if Iran does not accept the proposed framework.

  1. I am afraid none of Iran’s conditions require Usrael to alter any part of its colonial, aparthei, genocidal crimes against Palestinians. Some excuse this position with the true observation that Iran is fighting to merely survive; maybe Iranian pressure on Usrael fo the benefit of Palestine will come later. Or maybe severely damaging Israel is a great help to Palestinians. On the other hand, Iran is in a strong position – but does not demand even an end of the siege of Gaza as a condition for a cease-fire.
