At least six airstrikes were reportedly recorded in Wadi Houmine in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region alone.

The Israeli occupation army launched a series of airstrikes across south Lebanon on Wednesday, claiming they were targeting Hezbollah launch sites.

Airstrikes struck the outskirts of the towns of Zifta and Al-Namiriya in the Nabatieh district and the town of Tibna in the Sidon district, as well as on the outskirts of the town of Wadi Houmine in south Lebanon, Al-Jazeera Arabic reported.

At least six airstrikes were recorded in Houmine in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region alone, according to the Beirut-based network Al Mayadeen.

Lebanon’s state National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes launched “a series of strikes on Wadi al-Nemiriyeh in the Nabatieh region, firing several air-to-ground missiles whose explosions echoed across the area.”

A second airstrike, 15 minutes later, targeted Wadi Houmine, adding that the airstrikes “coincided with intensive drone activity” over the towns of Doueir, Sharqiya, Nemiriyeh, Toul, Nabatieh, Zebdine, and Jebchit.”

Citing residents and local sources, Al Mayadeen reported that prior to the airstrikes, there was heightened Israeli aerial activity across several parts of south Lebanon, with reconnaissance aircraft flying at very low altitude over Houmine al-Tahta. At the same time, drones were seen flying in circular patterns over the Zahrani region, the report stated.

Machine-gun fire also originated from Israel’s Ruwaysat al-Alam position toward the outskirts of Kfar Shouba, the report added.

The Israeli army’s spokesman, Avichay Adraee, claimed on X that “several launch sites belonging to Hezbollah” in south Lebanon were targeted.

Adraee said “military buildings” and other infrastructure were destroyed.

He vowed that the army would “continue to operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel” as well as “attempts to rebuild” Hezbollah.

Ongoing Ceasefire Violations

The latest attacks follow an Israeli airstrike on Monday, which targeted a vehicle in the Sidon district, killing three people, including a Lebanese army soldier, according to Al Mayadeen.

Israeli media have recently intensified reports about the occupation army finalizing a plan to launch a large-scale attack on Hezbollah positions if the Lebanese government and army fail to fulfill their pledge to disarm the group before the end of 2025, according to Al-Jazeera Arabic.

The Lebanese cabinet approved a resolution to restrict weapons to the state, including those of Hezbollah, and tasked the army with developing and implementing a plan to achieve this before the end of 2025.

However, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem has repeatedly affirmed that the party will not surrender its weapons and called for an end to the Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory. Meanwhile, Israel accuses the Lebanese army of failing to implement disarmament, accusations which Beirut rejects, the report added.
