Israeli occupation forces renewed attacks on Beirut and southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah escalated cross-border operations and Israeli military losses mounted.

Key Developments

  • Israeli soldier killed, officer wounded in southern Lebanon.
  • Israel strikes Beirut’s southern suburbs and multiple areas in the south.
  • Hezbollah expands attacks on bases, settlements, and military positions.

Targeting Beirut

The Israeli army announced that a soldier was killed and an officer wounded during fighting in southern Lebanon on Monday morning, marking a new escalation in ground clashes.

This comes a day after the army reported that six soldiers had been wounded, three of them seriously, in separate incidents involving anti-tank fire and drone activity targeting Israeli positions.

At the same time, the Israeli occupation army renewed its bombardment of Beirut’s southern suburbs on Monday. According to Al-Jazeera, two violent strikes targeted the southern suburbs, hitting an apartment in the Ghobeiri area.

Israeli occupation forces also issued fresh threats against heavily populated neighborhoods in the southern suburbs, including Haret Hreik, Ghobeiri, Laylaki, Hadath, Burj al-Barajneh, Tahwita al-Ghadir, and Chiyah, warning that attacks would continue throughout the area.

Lebanese media reports also indicated strikes on Bir al-Abed and near al-Rihab, as well as shelling of southern Lebanese towns including al-Ramadiyah, while artillery and air raids also hit places such as Arnoun, Yater, Barashit, Hanouyeh, and the outskirts of Maroun al-Ras, Yaroun, and Bint Jbeil.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said the death toll from the renewed Israeli aggression since March 2 had risen to 1,238 killed and 3,543 wounded.

It also announced that five people were killed in the overnight strike on Shaqra.

Meanwhile, the wider humanitarian burden continues to grow: the UN refugee agency said more than one million people have been displaced since the latest escalation began, amid repeated threats, raids, and destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure.

The violence has also affected international personnel. The United Nations said one UNIFIL peacekeeper was killed and another critically wounded after a projectile struck a UN position in southern Lebanon on Sunday night, in what marks a serious escalation in attacks affecting peacekeepers in the south.

Six Soldiers Wounded

On the battlefield, the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah said it continued operations “in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to Israel’s continued shelling of civilians, forced displacement, and demolition of homes.”

The group announced attacks on Israeli troop gatherings, vehicles, barracks, missile defense sites, and settlements, while also describing direct confrontations with advancing Israeli forces along the border.

Israeli authorities acknowledged growing military pressure. The army said six soldiers were wounded in southern Lebanon, three of them seriously.

According to the Israeli military, two soldiers were seriously wounded by anti-tank fire on Israeli positions, another was seriously wounded in a separate incident, and two others suffered moderate injuries after a drone crashed near an army site.

Another soldier was also reported moderately wounded in a separate field incident. Israeli media restrictions remain in place, with the army continuing to limit public reporting on the results of Hezbollah attacks.

Dispatches from the Battlefield

Hezbollah’s own account presented a much broader operational picture. It said it had carried out 74 operations on Sunday alone, 55 inside Lebanese territory and 19 inside Israel, and that its total number of operations since March 2 had reached 1,100.

In Monday’s round, the group said it targeted troop concentrations in Kiryat Shmona, Avivim, al-Malikiya, and the Khanouq area near al-Adaisseh, while also striking the Ghajar site and the Shomera barracks with rockets and drones.

It said it hit the Mishmar HaCarmel missile defense site south of Haifa with “advanced rockets,” and in one of its most significant claims, announced a strike on the Glilot base, described as the headquarters of Military Intelligence Unit 8200 on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. Hezbollah also said it targeted the Haifa naval base.

The group further announced heavy losses among Israeli occupation forces and equipment, saying 16 tanks had been destroyed or damaged, along with 15 bunkers and fortifications and three settlement units.

Its military media also published footage from al-Qawzah, where it said an Israeli force entrenched in a house was hit directly, with casualties confirmed.
