Zamir’s decision underscores mounting frustration over Netanyahu’s demands and stalled negotiations with Hamas.

Israeli Chief of Staff Lt.‑Gen. Eyal Zamir has canceled a planned high‑level visit to the United States, originally scheduled for Tuesday, choosing instead to remain in Israel as ceasefire negotiations in Gaza unravel, the Jerusalem Post revealed on Saturday.

According to the report, the visit was expected to include his attendance at the retirement ceremony for the Commander of US Central Command, as well as meetings with senior Pentagon and intelligence officials, and leaders of Jewish organizations.

However, “Zamir had conditioned his US departure on the establishment of a durable Gaza ceasefire,” the report stated, indicating that he made his travel contingent on progress toward a lasting agreement.

This move appears aligned with internal reports of deepening rifts between Israel’s political and military leadership over how to conduct the war and manage the fate of Israeli captives in Gaza.

The Jerusalem Post noted that “canceling the trip conveys a dual message: acknowledging the strategic importance of face-to-face talks with Washington while demonstrating that moral and operational responsibilities outweigh even the most prestigious diplomatic itinerary.”

During a recent tour of Gaza frontlines, Zamir reportedly told field commanders that the Israeli army would continue to exert constant pressure on the Palestinain Resistance movement Hamas until every captive returned home.

Ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, mediated via Qatar and Egypt, began unfolding on July 6, but Israeli and US negotiators recently withdrew their teams, signaling a breakdown in progress.

Hamas has offered to release Israeli captives in one fell swoop in return for an end to the genocide, Israel’s withdrawal, and Palestinian prisoner releases.

Yet Prime Minister Netanyahu has reportedly added demands like disarmament of Palestinian groups and reoccupation of Gaza—a stance that critics say is motivated by his own political survival.

Meanwhile, family members of Israeli captives—including those held and presumed dead—are staging daily protests outside government offices, demanding urgent action to secure their return.

  1. just Endless Western LIES and Wishful Thinking… consider the Lie of there being a usa ” cent-com “…. this Myth, when ALL of nato was DEFEATED by the Taliban in one week! … and just a few weeks ago, Iran pounded the usa’s pet israel like its never been pounded before!… THE FUTURE of Hamas will be decided by the People of Gaza and perhaps the West Bank, not by france or britain or the usa or israel.. EVERY day marks another Failure for israel… unable, despite all its savagery, to force the Palestinians to bow or to even locate the hostages… and EVERY day More and MORE people see israel’s Total Failure despite all its cruelty and Genocidal Crimes!!

  2. No, he stayed home because he knows that no one wants any of the Jewish Nazis to come here. When Gvir came here he had scores of hired security people all around him the whole time, protecting him because no one likes him and he was afraid. They would never just walk down the street on their own because someone would kill them. The Israeli Nazis are scum. They deserve anything that happens to them. The worst thing that ever happened to the Jews – the REAL ethnic Jews, not the poser religious ones – was the illegal, immoral creation of the Zionist nation of ” Israel ” . It’s a slap in the face to ethnic Jews everywhere. No one likes the Israeli Nazis, they’re all savages.
