Israeli occupation forces carried out drone strikes and tank fire in eastern and southern Lebanon, targeting vehicles and Lebanese army positions amid continued violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of attacks across eastern and southern Lebanon on Friday, including drone strikes and tank fire, in continued violations of the ceasefire agreement, according to Lebanese official media.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that an Israeli drone struck a car near the Majdaloun junction on the Baalbek highway in eastern Lebanon’s Baalbek-Hermel province, a region bordering Syria that has witnessed repeated Israeli violations in recent months. No casualties were immediately reported.

The strike was part of broader Israeli drone activity in the Bekaa Valley, where security sources said two separate drone attacks targeted the international Baalbek road near the Dours–Baalbek route. One missile was reportedly fired at a pedestrian without causing injuries, while a second struck an open area nearby. Another drone attack later targeted the town of Dours near Dar al-Amal Hospital in Baalbek.

In southern Lebanon, NNA said Israeli drones dropped sound bombs over the towns of Markaba and Blida, while Israeli gunfire originating from a newly established military position inside Lebanese territory targeted the outskirts of Aitaroun in the Bint Jbeil district.

Separately, an Israeli tank opened fire near a Lebanese army unit conducting a joint field mission with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) near Wadi al-Asafir, south of the town of Khiam in the Marjayoun district. The Lebanese army unit was operating in coordination with UN peacekeepers at the time of the incident. No casualties were reported, and the Israeli military issued no immediate comment.

UN peacekeeping forces have repeatedly reported Israeli fire near their positions in southern Lebanon, calling for strict adherence to the ceasefire, appeals that have largely gone unheeded.

Israeli ceasefire violations have killed and wounded hundreds of Lebanese since the agreement came into force. Despite provisions requiring a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon by January 2025, Israeli forces continue to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, in addition to other areas held for decades.

Israel launched military operations against Lebanon in October 2023, escalating them into a full-scale war in September 2024. The assault killed more than 4,000 people and wounded approximately 17,000 before a ceasefire agreement was reached in late November 2024.
