Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu described the EU decision to label products from illegal Israeli settlements as “moral degeneration”, Quds Press reported yesterday.

“This decision is shameful and is based on moral degeneration, as well as it recalls to the minds labelling the Jewish shops in Europe, which was in place 80 years ago,” Netanyahu said in a press conference.

He continued: “Instead of fighting terror in Syria and Iran, EU has time to slander the state of the Jews and ignore around 200 ongoing conflicts around the world.”

EU Ambassador in Tel Aviv Lars Faaborg-Andersen commented Netanyahu’s remarks, saying: “There is no way to compare labelling the settlement products with the crimes committed by the Nazis.”

He also stressed that the EU is not imposing an economic boycott on Israel, noting that the EU had only allowed labelling the settlement products, which would continue heading to the EU markets.
