The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry has confirmed that it has obtained sufficient evidence to prove that Israeli occupation forces committed war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
A commission member, Chris Sidoti, told Al Jazeera Arabic that the investigations lasted two years and were based on the collection of more than 16,000 articles of documented evidence, including photos and videos, corroborated by witness testimonies according to strict UN protocols.

The UN Human Rights Council established the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territories – including East Jerusalem and Israel – in May 2021.
Sidoti said the commission continues to operate in the same manner in which it has over the past four years since its establishment. This includes interviewing witnesses, victims, and other parties with direct knowledge of what happened, in addition to relying on satellite imagery, video footage, and digital forensics tools.
Determining Responsibility
The commission’s investigations are not limited to describing the crimes, but also include determining responsibility, according to Sidoti.
He revealed that the commission has identified, in many cases, the Israeli military forces responsible for the crimes committed, the report stated. In other cases, it has also identified individuals, commanders, and officials in the Israeli government and military who gave the orders to commit these crimes.
Sidoti said the commission’s reports are submitted to the UN Human Rights Council and the General Assembly, and are also made public. There are no special reports that are not made available.

In response to skepticism by some parties regarding the investigation’s findings, the spokesperson emphasized that criticism is limited to the Israeli government and its representatives, as well as the United States, while the committee receives no feedback from what he described as serious entities, the report stated.
Sidoti described the committee’s investigations as thorough, serious, and credible, reflecting broad international acceptance.
Staggering Death Toll
More than 100 people were killed in deadly Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night, in a brazen violation of the ceasefire deal that took effect on October 10 under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan.
Israel claimed that the strikes were in response to a shooting attack on its forces in Rafah, while Hamas has denied any involvement in the attack.
Over 200 Palestinians have been killed in total since the ceasefire took effect, with close to 600 injured, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
Over 100 Killed, Including Children, in Israeli Strikes on Gaza despite Ceasefire
The Israeli military, with American support, launched a genocidal war against the people of Gaza in October 2023. This campaign has so far resulted in the deaths of over 68,500 Palestinians, with more than 170,000 wounded. The vast majority of the population has been displaced, and the destruction of infrastructure is unprecedented since World War II. Thousands of people are still missing.
In addition to the military assault, the Israeli blockade has caused a man-made famine, leading to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians—mostly children—with hundreds of thousands more at risk.
Despite widespread international condemnation, little has been done to hold Israel accountable. The nation is currently under investigation for genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.
