The Al-Quds Brigades and Al-Qassam Brigades announced a series of operations, including the destruction of a Merkava tank, amid Israel’s “Gideon Chariots 2” campaign.

Saraya Al-Quds, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, said it destroyed an Israeli Merkava tank with an explosive device on Saturday during an incursion near Al-Yaziji Hall in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City.

Despite the siege imposed by the Israeli army and the intense aerial and artillery bombardment of Gaza City, Palestinian resistance factions continue to confront the invading forces.

Fighters from the Brigades said they repelled an Israeli special forces infiltration south of the city, later releasing video footage of the operation.

After the withdrawal of the Israeli unit, the group displayed remnants of clothing, military gear, and communications devices marked in Hebrew.

Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced a series of operations under the name “Moses’ Staff,” in response to Israel’s “Gideon Chariots 2” campaign aimed at occupying Gaza City.

A Qassam source told Al Jazeera that the first of these operations took place in the Zaytoun and Jabaliya neighborhoods in the northern Gaza Strip, shortly after the Israeli army declared the launch of its military campaign.

Ongoing Genocide

Since reneging on the ceasefire on March 18, Israel has continued its bloody aerial bombardment across the Gaza Strip, killing and wounding thousands of Palestinians.

Starting on October 7, 2023, the Israeli military, with American support, launched a genocidal war against the people of Gaza. This campaign has so far resulted in the deaths of more than 64,700 Palestinians, with more than 163,000 wounded. The vast majority of the population has been displaced, and the destruction of infrastructure is unprecedented since World War II. Thousands of people are still missing.

In addition to the military assault, the Israeli blockade has caused a man-made famine, leading to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians—mostly children—with hundreds of thousands more at risk.

Despite widespread international condemnation, little has been done to hold Israel accountable. The nation is currently under investigation for genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.
