The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, said that the Lebanese government “made a dangerous decision on August 5th, violating the principle of common coexistence,” and warned that it is “exposing the country to a major crisis.”

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, said that the Lebanese government’s decision on August 5th “strips Lebanon of its defensive weapons during aggression and makes it easier to kill resistance fighters and their families.”

On that Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced, after a cabinet session that discussed the issue of “exclusive control of weapons,” that the Lebanese army had been tasked with creating an implementation plan to “confine weapons to the state.” This plan is to be submitted to the Council of Ministers for discussion by the end of this month, August 31st.

‘The Lebanese Government Bears Responsibility’

In a speech commemorating the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein in Baalbek, Sheikh Qassem stated that the Lebanese government “made a dangerous decision and violated the principle of common coexistence,” warning that it “is exposing the country to a very major crisis.”

He held the Lebanese government fully responsible for any internal strife and for abandoning its duty to defend Lebanese territory.

He added, “We do not want strife, but there are those who are working for it.”

‘Government Serving Israeli-American Project’

Sheikh Qassem said that “the Lebanese government is carrying out the American-Israeli command to end the resistance, even if it leads to civil war and internal strife.”

He said, “This government is serving the Israeli project, whether it knows it or not.”

He addressed the government, saying, “If you feel incapable, leave the enemy to face us, and just as Israel’s repeated wars have failed, this time will also fail.”

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah called for not involving the “army in internal strife, as its record is clean, and its leadership does not want to enter this path.”

‘There Is No Life for Lebanon If You Stand on the Other Side’

He added, “Let’s be together in building the country. The country is not built by one component without another. We live with dignity together, or there is no life for Lebanon if you stand on the other side.”

He stressed that the “government’s function is not to hand the country over to the enemy and to American dominance.”

He questioned, “How can you in the government accept facilitating the killing of your partners in the nation? Will Lebanon remain if some partners in the nation attack others?”

He added, “Have you heard of Netanyahu’s plan to establish ‘Greater Israel’? What is your comment? What are you doing?”

‘Resistance Will Not Hand Over Weapons’

He said, “The resistance took its legitimacy from the blood of the martyrs; it does not need it from you. I tell you, do not involve the Lebanese army in internal strife.”

Sheikh Qassem confirmed that the resistance “will not hand over its weapons as long as the aggression is ongoing and the occupation exists. We will fight a Karbala-like battle if necessary, and we are confident that we will be victorious.”

He added, “We have said repeatedly: stop the aggression and get Israel out of Lebanon, and you will have every facilitation from us during the discussion of national and strategic security.”

‘The Resistance Does Not Need Certificates from Anyone’

He stressed that “the resistance gives testimony and does not need certificates from anyone,” indicating that “the majority opinion of the Lebanese people is with the resistance and its continuity.”

Sheikh Qassem said, “We cannot talk about Lebanese sovereignty unless it is accompanied by the resistance that liberated the land.”

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah noted that “the resistance helped the state to take control in southern Lebanon. For eight months, the resistance has been targeted, yet we have been patient.”

‘2006 Victory Is a Victory of Will and Resistance’

Sheikh Qassem offered condolences for the “martyrs of the Lebanese army who were martyred in Zabqin. They are martyrs of duty and truth. They are martyrs of the resistance, the army, and the nation.”

He recalled the memory of the July war, saying, “Today, we build our lives, our future, and our generations on the principle that every land and time is for victory, giving, sacrifice, and achieving great goals.”

He affirmed that “our victory in July 2006 was a victory of will and resistance, a defeat for Israel, and prevented it from occupation and settlement.” He pointed out that this victory “constituted a deterrent to Israel for 17 years.”

‘Genocide Will Not Deter Palestinians from Resistance’

He thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support to the resistance with money, weapons, and political stances, and “for offering martyrs.”

He stressed that “Palestine will remain the compass, and the genocide will not deter the Palestinian people from continuing the resistance.”

He said, “Palestine will be victorious with all these sacrifices, because they are the people of the land, the cause, the will, the blood, and the contributions.”
