Key Developments
- Palestinian youth killed after being shot by Israeli colonists during an attack on Deir Jarir village near Ramallah.
- Settler violence escalates across the West Bank, with multiple injuries, assaults, and forced displacement reported.
- Israeli authorities force demolitions in Jerusalem as broader pressure on Palestinian communities intensifies.
Killed in Deir Jarir
A Palestinian young man was killed on Saturday evening after being shot by Israeli colonists during a raid on the village of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the victim as Ali Majed Hamadneh, 23, who succumbed to critical injuries sustained during the assault.
According to the ministry, a bullet penetrated Hamadneh’s back and chest, leaving him in extremely critical condition. He was transported to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, where he was later pronounced dead.
The shooting occurred as armed illegal settlers, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, attacked Deir Jarir from its western entrance and opened live fire toward residents.
Local accounts indicated that the assault took place in the late afternoon, with settlers firing directly at Palestinians in the area, triggering panic among residents and prompting emergency medical responses.
Hamadneh’s killing marks the latest fatality in a series of escalating attacks targeting Palestinian communities across the occupied West Bank.
Wave of Settler Violence
The killing in Deir Jarir came amid a broader wave of settler attacks reported in multiple areas on Saturday.
In Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron (Al-Khalil), a child and a young man were injured after settlers stormed the village of al-Tuba and assaulted residents at close range.
Local sources said illegal settlers used pepper spray during the attack, causing suffocation symptoms for a young man, while a five-year-old child sustained head injuries and bruises after being pushed to the ground.
The same attack involved the theft of livestock belonging to a local resident, as well as assaults on farmers in nearby areas, where the armed settlers chased them under the protection of Israeli forces.
Israeli soldiers were also reported to have fired tear gas and stun grenades toward homes and detained residents during the incident.
In a separate development near Bethlehem, a 16-year-old boy was injured after settlers attacked residents in the Khallet al-Louz area, spraying them with pepper spray.
Palestinian security sources reported that such attacks have escalated in recent months, including assaults on homes, farmland, and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, in the village of al-Rashaida east of Bethlehem, settlers assaulted shepherds and forced them to leave at gunpoint, while others gathered in nearby areas, heightening tensions.
Attacks Near Ramallah and Nablus
In the village of Burqa, east of Ramallah, settlers stormed the area from its northern entrance and attempted to break into a resident’s home, according to local officials.
Residents reported repeated incidents targeting homes, agricultural lands, and property in the area.
Further north, in the town of Beita near Nablus, settlers carried out attacks in multiple locations, including areas under construction, where two Palestinian workers were detained.
The attacks were followed by the entry of Israeli forces into the town, according to local reports.
Forced Demolitions in Jerusalem
In occupied Jerusalem, Israeli authorities forced a Palestinian resident to demolish his own home in the Silwan neighborhood under the pretext of lacking a building permit.
The Jerusalem Governorate said the home, located in the al-Bustan area, housed a family of eight and had been built in 2012.
Authorities imposed heavy fines, with tens of thousands of shekels still outstanding.
On the same day, three brothers from the al-Tahan family were also compelled to demolish their homes in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood under similar conditions.
Such measures are frequently imposed on Palestinian residents in Jerusalem, who are often forced to carry out demolitions themselves to avoid higher financial penalties.
