Israel launches nighttime strikes on Tehran as Iran downs drones and targets US aircraft, escalating multi-front confrontation across region.

Key Developments

  • Israeli army confirms “nighttime strikes” targeting infrastructure in Tehran.
  • Iran downs drone over Tehran, raising total intercepted UAVs to 127.
  • Iranian defenses target F-15 near Hormuz; fate of aircraft under investigation.

Explosions in Central and Southern Iran

Iranian media reported hearing explosions Sunday morning in the city of Isfahan in central Iran, coinciding with similar blasts in Ahvaz in Khuzestan province in the southwest.

The incidents come amid expanding Israeli military activity targeting Iranian territory.

The Israeli army announced early Sunday the start of a wave of “nighttime strikes” targeting infrastructure in Tehran.

According to the army, the strikes were approved by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and carried out in response to Iranian missile attacks targeting Arad and Dimona.

Israeli media reported that those strikes injured dozens, some seriously, and caused widespread destruction, including the collapse of entire residential areas in Arad.

Iran Downs Drone Over Tehran

The Iranian army announced on Sunday that its air defenses successfully shot down an armed drone belonging to the “hostile Israeli-American forces” over the capital, Tehran.

In a statement, it confirmed that the drone was destroyed before it could carry out any operation.

Iranian authorities added that the total number of drones intercepted since the start of the war on February 28 has reached 127.

Iran Targets F-15 Near Hormuz

The Iranian army also announced that its air defenses targeted an enemy F-15 fighter jet in the skies over the southern coasts of the country, near Hormuz Island.

The aircraft was tracked and engaged with a missile, according to the statement.

Iranian military public relations said investigations are ongoing to determine the fate of the fighter jet.

These developments come amid an ongoing war that began in late February, which has resulted in the killing of hundreds of people in Iran, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior security officials.

Iran continues to respond with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US military bases in the region as part of Operation True Promise 4, while Israel intensifies its attacks on Iranian infrastructure.
