Iran announced attacks on 21 American military targets across the region, warning Washington against further escalation following recent strikes.

Key Developments

  • Iran said it targeted 21 US military assets, including the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and facilities in Jordan.
  • The IRGC claimed Kheibar Shekan missiles struck F-35 hangars and a command center at the Azraq base.
  • Tehran warned that any future American attack would trigger broader and more severe regional retaliation.

US Bases in Bahrain, Jordan Targeted

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced early Wednesday that it had carried out attacks against 21 American military targets across the region, including the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and facilities used by US forces in Jordan.

According to the IRGC, the operation targeted F-35 fighter aircraft hangars and a US Army command-and-control center at the Azraq base in Jordan. Iranian media reported that Kheibar Shekan ballistic missiles were used during the operation.

The force also announced a drone strike on the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, one of Washington’s most important military installations in the Gulf.

Iranian officials further announced that four major targets were destroyed and that Iranian air defenses shot down an American MQ-9 drone over Bushehr Province in southern Iran.

Tehran Frames Operation as Retaliation

The operation came hours after US strikes targeted areas in southern Iran.

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said the attacks were launched in response to what it described as American aggression carried out under the pretext of the downing of a US Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.

The headquarters announced that a number of American bases had come under attack by units of the Iranian Army and the IRGC, warning that any future aggression would be met with wider strikes against pre-designated targets throughout the region.

Iranian military officials stressed that hostile actions would be met with responses that are “harsher and more severe.”

Escalation despite Ceasefire Efforts

The latest exchange comes despite ongoing ceasefire efforts and negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

Iranian officials have repeatedly accused the United States of violating understandings reached in April and warned that continued military pressure risks expanding the conflict beyond Iran’s borders.

The latest escalation follows months of confrontation that began after the US-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28. While Iranian officials have signaled a willingness to continue negotiations, they have also insisted that any attack on Iranian territory will trigger a direct military response.
