A drone launched from Yemen by Ansarallah struck Israel’s Ramon Airport on Sunday, injuring passengers and exposing conflicting military claims.
A drone launched from Yemen struck Israel’s Ramon Airport in the Naqab (Negev) region on Sunday, causing casualties, despite the Israeli military’s earlier announcement that it had intercepted three drones from Yemen.
Israeli paramedics confirmed that a man suffered moderate injuries to his limbs at the passenger waiting area of Ramon Airport, which was hit directly by the drone.
Following its first statement on the interception of three drones, the Israeli army later acknowledged that “a fourth drone was launched from Yemen and crashed in the vicinity of Ramon Airport.” It added that no air raid sirens were activated at the airport and that the incident is under investigation.
Israeli Army Radio quoted a military source as saying the drone struck the airport’s passenger lounge. The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom cited the army confirming the same, while the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that two people were injured when the drone fell.

According to Army Radio, eight ballistic missiles and seven drones have been launched from Yemen since the assassination of several Ansarallah leaders in Sanaa on August 28.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli Home Front Command reported that air raid sirens were activated in the Nitzana area near the Egyptian border. Channel 12 stated that three drones from Yemen were detected in Sinai heading toward Israel.
About an hour later, the military announced that the air force had intercepted three drones, two of them before they crossed into Israel. Ansarallah has not yet claimed responsibility for Sunday’s drone launch.
Ansarallah forces in Yemen have continued to target Israel with drones and ballistic missiles, as well as strike commercial vessels linked to Israel, declaring their actions as part of support for the Palestinian resistance and in retaliation for ongoing Israeli massacres in Gaza.
The group also vowed to inflict a painful response following the assassination of its Prime Minister, Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi, and several ministers in a bombing in Sanaa on August 28 during a government workshop.
Following these assassinations, Israeli security officials tightened protection measures around Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on war crimes charges in Gaza—along with other senior officials.
