A joint Palestinian Resistance unit has reportedly ambushed Israeli forces in the Tulkarm refugee camp, wounding five soldiers, three of them seriously.

The Israeli Army said in a statement that its soldiers exchanged fire with Palestinian fighters in the Tulkarm camp overnight.

The Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel reported that “citing an initial probe, the statement said the five officers were hit by shrapnel from a hand grenade, seriously wounding three of them and moderately hurting the other two.”

All Israeli soldiers were moved to the hospital for treatment.

Palestinian resistance groups in Tulkarm said in a statement that their fighters were “engaged in intense clashes with special forces” and that they were able to “discover a Zionist special force that had infiltrated the camp at dawn” on Thursday.

Two young Palestinian men were also killed by Israeli forces near Tulkarm. The victims were identified as Huthayfah Fares, 27, and Abd al-Rahman Atta, 23.
