Israeli occupation forces killed two Palestinians and demolished residential buildings in Gaza on Wednesday, coinciding with airstrikes inside the ‘Yellow Line’, while humanitarian conditions worsen due to the destruction of municipal facilities and restricted aid access.

Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces, and the Israeli army demolished residential buildings on Wednesday, coinciding with airstrikes in areas within what is known as the Yellow Line in the Gaza Strip, amid the continued search for the remains of an Israeli captive in the northern part of the Strip.

A source at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital reported that two Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire outside the ‘Yellow Line’ in the Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City.

Al-Jazeera reported that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the eastern areas of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, inside the Yellow Line that placed about 53% of the Strip under the control of the Israeli army, according to the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10.

The report added that Israeli airstrikes also targeted areas inside the Yellow Line east of Khan Yunis and in the city of Rafah to the south.

It also confirmed that the occupation forces demolished buildings and launched airstrikes inside the Yellow Line in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza, where the occupation is attempting to expand the borders of its control.

In turn, the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas condemned in a statement the occupation’s continued violations of the ceasefire agreement and its targeting of displaced persons outside the Yellow Line, calling on mediators and guarantor countries to take serious action to stop Israel’s violations and compel it to abide by the agreement.

Search for a Captive

In a related development, the Al-Quds Brigades announced that its fighters, accompanied by the Red Cross, moved to search for the body of an Israeli captive in northern Gaza.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the remains Israel received on Tuesday via the Red Cross did not belong to any of the Israeli captives.

Israel is still demanding the bodies of two captives in order to begin the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

Destruction of Municipalities

On the humanitarian front, the mayor of Al-Qarara in Gaza confirmed – during an interview with Al-Jazeera – that the occupation forces destroyed all of the municipality’s facilities and half of its machinery during the two years of the conflict, emphasizing the destruction of everything related to agriculture, which is what the residents need to secure their sustenance without relying on aid.

He added that Israeli authorities are still preventing tents and equipment from entering the Gaza Strip as winter intensifies, saying that “the situation remains catastrophic.”

This came after two Palestinians, one of them a child, were killed and 15 others were injured on Tuesday evening as a result of artillery shelling that targeted the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, raising the death toll from the occupation yesterday to 4 people killed, including a journalist, in addition to 37 wounded.

These attacks are an extension of a series of Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement signed between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye, and sponsored by the United States.

According to the government media office in Gaza, the Israeli army violated the agreement 591 times, resulting in the deaths of about 357 Palestinians and injuring 903 others up to last Sunday.

The Israeli military operation, which began on October 7, 2023, has left more than 70,000 Palestinian people killed, and about 171,000 wounded, most of them children and women, and massive destruction, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations.
