Israeli occupation forces advanced into southern Lebanon as Hezbollah launched drone and rocket strikes on key military bases.

Key Developments

  • Israeli occupation ground forces entered southern Lebanon, advancing into Kfarkela and Qouzah.
  • Tel Aviv says it approved a ground offensive to establish an additional “security layer.”
  • Hezbollah targeted Meron and Ramat David bases with drone attacks.
  • Rockets fired at Nafah base in the occupied Syrian Golan.
  • Escalation unfolds amid repeated ceasefire violations since November 2024.

Israeli Ground Offensive

Israeli occupation ground forces entered southern Lebanon overnight in what Israeli officials described as an operation to seize additional high ground and establish a “security layer” for residents of northern settlements.

Israel’s Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had approved the ground offensive, aimed at preventing rocket fire on northern settlements.

“The Israeli army continues to act forcefully and Hezbollah is paying and will pay a heavy price for firing towards Israel,” Katz stated.

The Israeli army said that forces from the 91st Division had begun operating in south Lebanon and were stationed at several strategic points as part of strengthening what it described as a forward defense system.

An army statement said the operation involves “large-scale raids on Hezbollah infrastructure” to create an additional security layer for northern settlements.

Lebanese officials, however, said Israeli forces advanced hundreds of meters into the towns of Kfarkela and Qouzah in south Lebanon.

The Lebanese army reportedly carried out a redeployment from newly established border posts, which had been created over the past two months amid escalating Israeli activity.

The latest incursion comes after Israel launched a ground offensive in 2024 as part of a broader war that expanded in September of that year. Since October 2023, Israeli operations in Lebanon have killed more than 4,000 people and injured approximately 17,000 others.

Despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect in November 2024, Israeli violations have continued almost daily, leaving hundreds dead and wounded.

Hezbollah Targets Key Military Bases

On Tuesday morning, the Lebanese Resistance movement Hezbollah announced it had targeted the Meron air operations monitoring and management base in northern occupied Palestine with a squadron of attack drones.

In a statement, Hezbollah said the operation came in response to Israeli aggression affecting dozens of Lebanese cities and towns, including Beirut’s southern suburb. The group stated that the attack damaged one of the radars at the base and a command building.

Hezbollah later targeted the Nafah base, described as the headquarters of the 210th Habshan Division in the occupied Syrian Golan, with a large barrage of rockets.

At dawn, the resistance also announced it had struck radar sites and control rooms at the Ramat David airbase in northern occupied Palestine using attack drones.

In its statement, Hezbollah said Israeli aggression against Lebanon has continued for fifteen months “with killing, destruction, bulldozing and all forms of criminality,” adding that political and diplomatic efforts had failed to halt violations or enforce agreements.

The group reiterated that “aggression without a response cannot continue,” stressing that assassinations and destruction cannot go unanswered and calling for action “by all available means.”
