Hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded two deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, raising the total number to 271 deaths, including 112 children, since October 2023.

Three Israeli airstrikes destroyed a camp for displaced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza on Thursday, local sources and witnesses told the Anadolu news agency.

The airstrikes targeted the Al-Munasara refugee camp, which houses around 200 displaced families near the College of Da’wa and close to the Al-Aqsa Hospital, the sources said.

Witnesses said the Israeli army issued an immediate evacuation order to some camp residents via phone calls, causing widespread panic among the displaced families.

“The airstrikes completely destroyed tents and belongings of the displaced families, who had no time to move their possessions,” an eyewitness said.

He said roughly 200 families are now left homeless.

Aid Seekers Killed

A medical source at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed that several people sustained injuries from the strikes.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s latest update on Thursday, 70 Palestinians were killed and 356 injured in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry said that a “number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, as ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them until now.”

The total death toll since October 2023 has risen to 62,192 killed and 157,114 injured.

The number of aid seekers killed at or near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution points in the past 24 hours has risen to 18, in addition to 117 injuries. This raises the total death toll to 2,036 aid seekers killed with 15,064 injured, since the end of May when the GHF was launched.

Meanwhile, hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded two deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, raising the total number to 271 deaths, including 112 children, since October 2023.

Re-Occupation of Gaza

On August 8, Israel’s Security Cabinet approved a plan by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to gradually reoccupy the Gaza Strip, beginning with Gaza City.

The plan envisions forcing nearly 1 million Palestinians southward, encircling the city, and carrying out ground raids into residential districts.

Genocide in Gaza: A Stain on Us All and a Test of Our Humanity

On August 11, as part of the first steps, the Israeli army launched a wide assault on the Zeitoun neighborhood in southeastern Gaza City. Witnesses said the operation involved blowing up homes with explosive-laden robots, artillery fire, indiscriminate shooting, and mass displacement.

Unprecedented Destruction

Since reneging on the ceasefire on March 18, Israel has continued its bloody aerial bombardment across the Gaza Strip, killing and wounding thousands of Palestinians.

Starting on October 7, 2023, the Israeli military, with American support, launched a genocidal war against the people of Gaza. This campaign has so far resulted in the deaths of more than 62,000 Palestinians, with more than 157,000 wounded. The vast majority of the population has been displaced, and the destruction of infrastructure is unprecedented since World War II. Thousands of people are still missing.

Israel Initiates ‘Gideon’s Chariots 2’ Operation in Gaza, Resistance Readies

In addition to the military assault, the Israeli blockade has caused a man-made famine, leading to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians—mostly children—with hundreds of thousands more at risk.

Despite widespread international condemnation, little has been done to hold Israel accountable. The nation is currently under investigation for genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.
