Ongoing Israeli attacks in Lebanon undermine ceasefire, as Iran issues warning and signals readiness for further escalation.
Key Developments
- Iran says three core clauses of agreed negotiation framework violated before talks began, including Lebanon ceasefire.
- Iranian parliament speaker declares ceasefire and negotiations “no longer logical” under current conditions.
- Israeli strikes continue across Lebanon, killing and injuring hundreds hours after ceasefire announcement.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf declared Wednesday that a ceasefire and negotiations have become “no longer logical” after the United States and Israel violated key provisions of the agreed 10-point framework before talks even began.
In a formal statement, Qalibaf said Washington and Israel had breached three central clauses of the proposal, which had been accepted as the basis for negotiations.
“The deep historical distrust we hold toward the United States stems from its repeated violations of all forms of commitments — a pattern that has regrettably been repeated once again,” Qalibaf said.
He referred to a statement by the US president, who had described Iran’s 10-point proposal as a “workable basis on which to negotiate” and the main framework for upcoming talks.
“However, three clauses of this proposal have been violated so far,” Qalibaf stated.
Violations of the Framework
Qalibaf outlined what he described as clear breaches of the agreed framework, beginning with the failure to implement a ceasefire in Lebanon.
He said there had been “non-compliance with the first clause of the 10-point proposal regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon,” emphasizing that this commitment had been explicitly affirmed by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as “an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and other regions, effective immediately.”
The second violation, he said, involved a breach of Iranian sovereignty.
“The entry of an intruding drone into Iran’s airspace, which was destroyed in the city of Lar in Fars Province, constitutes a clear violation of the clause prohibiting any further violation of Iran’s airspace,” Qalibaf stated.
The third violation, according to Qalibaf, concerns Iran’s nuclear rights.
“There has been a denial of Iran’s right to enrichment, which was included in the sixth clause of the framework,” he said.
Qalibaf said the violations undermine the entire basis of negotiations.
“Now, the very ‘workable basis on which to negotiate’ has been openly and clearly violated, even before the negotiations began,” he stated.
He concluded that under such conditions, any diplomatic process lacks credibility.
“In such a situation, a bilateral ceasefire or negotiations is unreasonable,” Qalibaf said.
Israeli Massacres Across Lebanon
Qalibaf’s remarks come as Israeli airstrikes continued across Lebanon on Wednesday, targeting Beirut, Baalbek, southern Lebanon, Mount Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley.
The attacks were carried out just hours after a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran was announced through Pakistani mediation, which was intended to pave the way for broader negotiations.
Lebanese authorities and humanitarian sources reported dozens killed and more than 200 injured, with casualties expected to rise as rescue operations continue.
Strikes targeted residential areas and densely populated neighborhoods, with reports of attacks interrupting rescue efforts and funerals.
Israel has continued its military operations in southern Lebanon since early March, combining airstrikes and ground activity despite a prior ceasefire arrangement that had been in place since November 2024.

Statement on the violation of three key clauses of the 10-Point Proposal (Agreed Framework) before the start of the negotiations
“The deep historical distrust we hold toward the United States stems from its repeated violations of all forms of commitments — a pattern that has regrettably been repeated once again.
As the President of the United States has clearly stated on his Truth, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s 10-Point Proposal is a ‘workable basis on which to negotiate’ and the main framework for these talks. However, 3 clauses of this proposal have been violated so far:
1- Non-compliance with the first clause of the 10-Point Proposal regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon — a commitment that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also explicitly referred to and declared as ‘an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and other regions, effective immediately’;
2- The entry of an intruding drone into Iran airspace, which was destroyed in the city of Lar in Fars Province, in clear violation of the clause prohibiting any further violation of Iran airspace;
3- Denial of Iran’s right to enrichment, which was included in sixth clause of the framework.
Now, the very ‘workable basis on which to negotiate’ has been openly and clearly violated, even before the negotiations began.
In such situation, a bilateral ceasefire or negotiations is unreasonable.”
