Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, including a drone attack between al-Jarmaq and al-Khardali that killed two people, add to over 100 civilian deaths since the November 2024 ceasefire, according to the UN.

An Israeli occupation drone strike targeted a car on Thursday in the Al-Jarmaq and Al-Khardali areas of southern Lebanon, killing two people and wounding a third, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

The Ministry reported that just a day earlier, another Israeli strike hit a car in the town of Kafra, killing one person and injuring five others, some critically.

In a separate incident today, an Israeli quadcopter dropped two bombs on the town of Houla.

These attacks are part of Israel’s ongoing assault on Lebanon, which has persisted despite the November 2024 ceasefire.

According to the United Nations, over 100 civilians have been killed since then, while the Lebanese Army announced on September 18 that Israeli violations have exceeded 4,500 since last November.

On October 1, the UN confirmed 103 civilian deaths in Lebanon since the ceasefire and urged renewed efforts to end the violence and establish a lasting truce.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk condemned continued Israeli airstrikes on residential areas and locations near UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon.

“Families are simply unable to make a start on rebuilding their homes and their lives, and instead are faced by the real and present danger of more strikes,” Turk said.

His office highlighted a September 21 drone strike in Bint Jbeil that killed five people, including three children. Turk called for an independent and impartial investigation into that and other incidents, warning of serious breaches of international humanitarian law.

The UN also reported that more than 80,000 people remain displaced across Lebanon.
