A doctor at the Al-Aqsa hospital said the situation was “desperate” and there was “no doubt” that civilians are being attacked, due to the high number of children killed and injured in the latest onslaught.
French medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has said that the recent “overwhelming” level of deaths and injuries in Gaza is the consequence of repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire, perpetuating the genocide.
On 29 October, our teams across the Gaza Strip treated severely wounded patients from attacks by Israeli forces, which caused alarming civilian casualties. We have seen injured patients in Al-Aqsa, Nasser, and Al-Shifa hospitals.

“We have repeatedly called for a sustained ceasefire to stop the overwhelming level of death and catastrophic injuries suffered by civilians,” the organization said on X on Thursday. “So far, we are witnessing the consequences of repeated violations of this ceasefire, which perpetuate the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”
‘Desperate Situation’
MSF said its teams across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday treated severely wounded patients from attacks by Israeli forces, which caused alarming civilian casualties.
“We have seen injured patients in Al-Aqsa, Nasser, and Al-Shifa hospitals,” the organization noted.

Dr Morten Rostrup, a doctor at Al-Aqsa hospital, said that when he got to the emergency room, “it was a desperate situation.”
“There is no doubt this is an attack on civilians, with so many children being injured and killed. Do we really call this a ceasefire?” he asked.
It said its teams, together with the Ministry of Health’s teams at Nasser hospital, received 22 dead and 60 injured, including children. While the Al-Aqsa hospital treated 77 injured, some of whom were referred “to our field hospital.” At the Al-Shifa hospital, Ministry of Health teams received 27 dead and 56 injured.
Over 200 Killed in Ceasefire Violations
Since the US-brokered ceasefire began on October 10, Israeli forces have killed 211 people and injured 597, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
In the past 24 hours alone, they report that Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip have killed at least 104 people — including 46 children and 20 women — and injured 253 others, among them 78 children and 84 women.

Gaza’s Government Media Office on Wednesday also confirmed the killing of journalist Muhammad Al-Munirawi in Gaza. This raises the number of journalists killed by the Israeli occupation forces to 256 since the start of the genocidal operation in October 2023. The office condemned “the systematic targeting of media personnel” by the Israeli army.
Millions Displaced
Starting on October 7, 2023, the Israeli military, with American support, launched a genocidal war against the people of Gaza. This campaign has so far resulted in the deaths of over 68,600 Palestinians, with more than 170,000 wounded. The vast majority of the population has been displaced, and the destruction of infrastructure is unprecedented since World War II. Thousands of people are still missing.

In addition to the military assault, the Israeli blockade has caused a man-made famine, leading to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians—mostly children—with hundreds of thousands more at risk.
Despite widespread international condemnation, little has been done to hold Israel accountable. The nation is currently under investigation for genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.
