The Gaza Health Ministry reported 58 Palestinians killed in 24 hours, including aid recipients and children, as Israel intensifies strikes on Gaza City’s Zaytoun neighborhood.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 58 Palestinians were killed and 185 others injured in the past 24 hours by Israeli occupation forces across various areas of the Gaza Strip, as the genocidal war continues into its eleventh month.

According to the ministry, 22 of those killed were aid recipients, raising the overall death toll from the Israeli aggression to 62,122, with 156,758 wounded since October 7, 2023.

Medical sources said two children were killed and others injured when Israeli warplanes struck a house in the Al-Samar neighborhood of Gaza City, completely destroying it and damaging nearby homes.

In another strike, five members of a single family—a couple and their children—were killed when a tent sheltering displaced people in Al-Shati refugee camp was bombed.

Four more Palestinians, including children, were killed in a tent for displaced persons near the Islamic University, while two children were killed in a separate strike near Al-Thalathini Street in the Al-Sabra neighborhood.

The ministry further reported that several Palestinians were killed while waiting for aid in different areas, and confirmed the deaths of three more people from starvation in recent hours, raising the toll of famine-related deaths to 266, including 112 children.

For the tenth consecutive day, Israeli forces continued their assault on the Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City, part of a wider plan to reoccupy the Strip.

An Israeli strike on the Awqaf building, which was sheltering displaced families, killed four Palestinians from one family, wounded others, and caused a fire.

Anadolu news agency reported that artillery and airstrikes also targeted the Zaytoun and Sabra neighborhoods, with over 400 homes and civilian facilities destroyed. Residents face mass displacement and dire humanitarian conditions as Israeli bulldozers and tanks continue their destruction on the eastern and southern fronts.

‘Shameful Indictment’ – UN Says Record Number of Aid Workers Killed in Gaza

Munir al-Bursh, Director-General of the Health Ministry in Gaza, told Al-Jazeera that Israeli forces are killing one child every 40 minutes, with an average of 28 children killed daily.

He said more than one million children in Gaza suffer psychological trauma, with half diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. UNRWA added that over the past five months, an average of 540 children have been killed each month.

Al-Bursh also noted that hospital occupancy has reached 300 percent, reflecting the catastrophic state of the health system.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that Defense Minister and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has approved a plan to occupy Gaza City following a decision by the Security and Political Affairs Cabinet.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said the army began calling up 60,000 reservists today, in addition to the 70,000 already mobilized two weeks ago. Military sources confirmed that the call-up was moved forward and that 20,000 reserve soldiers would have their service extended by another 40 days.
