PA Appoints First Female Governor

The Palestinian Authority’s first female governor was sworn into office by acting PA chief Mahmoud Abbas on Friday.

Laila Ghannam, who was the acting governor of Ramallah for six months, was officially appointed as the governor by the PA.

A host of officials attended the swearing-in ceremony, which was held at the presidential compound in Ramallah.

Ghannam was previously the general director of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the head of the board of administration for the Watan Center for women’s leadership.
