A Palestinian from the town of Jenin has died in Israeli detention, raising to 81 the number of prisoners who have died in detention since October 7, 2023.

One Palestinian youth was shot and killed by an illegal Israeli Jewish settler while another was killed by Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank early on Monday.

Ahmed Rabhi al-Atrash was shot in the head at close range by an illegal settler at the northern entrance to Hebron (al-Khalil), according to the Anadolu news agency, citing WAFA, the official Palestinian news agency.

Israeli forces prevented Red Crescent paramedics from reaching al-Atrash, who was left bleeding on the ground until he died, according to the report.

His body was later taken away after his family was called to identify him.

Another Youth Killed

In a separate incident, the Health Ministry said 17-year-old Jamil Atef Hannani died from critical wounds he sustained on Sunday evening when Israeli soldiers opened fire during an army incursion into the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said he was shot in the chest with live ammunition and transferred to Rafidia Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Israeli attacks have escalated across the occupied West Bank since October 2023, killing more than 1,063 Palestinians and injuring 10,300 others, according to Palestinian figures.

Escalating Raids

Israeli occupation forces also carried out a series of raids at dawn on Monday, Al Mayadeen reported.

These included incursions into the towns of Sa’ir and al-Shuyukh, north of Hebron, while a home was demolished in the village of al-Walaja, west of Bethlehem, under the pretext of lacking a building permit. On Sunday night, Israeli forces attacked al-Yamoun, west of Jenin, and fired live rounds within residential areas, the report stated.

Settler Attacks

A mob of illegal Israeli settlers stormed the town of Jurish, south of Nablus on Monday, and set fire to a Palestinian vehicle. They also defaced a property’s walls with racist graffiti before fleeing the area, WAFA reported.

Elsewhere on Monday, settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Khirbet Masoud, south of Jenin, according to local sources cited by WAFA.

They said that the mob attacked homes and land belonging to the Palestinian residents, damaged olive trees and released their livestock into the village’s lands and among the homes.

A day earlier, a mob of settlers attacked a house in the village, smashing its windows and doors before raising an Israeli flag on its roof, the report stated.

In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Detainee Dies

The latest development in the West Bank comes after the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced on Sunday the death of another Palestinian prisoner.

Mohammad Hussein Mohammad Ghawadreh, 63, from Jenin, died inside the Gannot Prison (formerly Nafha and Ramon), where he had been detained since August 6, 2024, Al Mayadeen reported. His death raises to 81 the number of prisoners who have died in detention since October 7, 2023.

According to the joint statement, Ghawadreh was the father of administrative detainee Sami Ghawadreh and the father of freed prisoner Shadi Ghawadreh, who was released earlier this year as part of the latest prisoner exchange deal and later deported to Egypt.
